Growing up sucks.
I'm 20. I'm balancing a job with a double degree in Law. I have to worry about finding a girl to marry, start a family and provide for. I have to worry about money.
In short, I have responsibilities. And it ****ing sucks. Anyone else miss being young? Going to school just to chill with friends, come home, play Xbox all night. No bills to pay etc. Anyone else feel like this? I honestly miss being a kid. |

Eh. I'm not gonna worry about getting married and starting a family until I'm financially secure, which likely won't happen until at least my late 20s.
Not just independent, but able to buy a house, pay for my children's education, all that good stuff.

yeah it sucks at first, but after the transitional stage it can get better if you want it to. thousands of adults still live today without any kind of responsibility. they are called "homeless"

It's great. I finally get to be who I want, and I'm up for an Emmy for a recent production.

I'm not completely out on my own yet, but I very much enjoy being grown up. Being at college is like the best of both worlds, you're still pretty taken care of, but you're an adult with freedom.
My bills aren't too bothersome. I worked for two years in high school saving up money, received social security for a few months when I was seventeen, and have a little bit of money coming that'll be mine once I'm 25. It's not terribly difficult to pay my own school fees (which are minimal, scholarships ftw), and car and health insurance. I can't wait to have a career that I love and a family that I love too. Being a kid was pretty shitty.

You know what else sucks?
Your mother. Anyway, im 25, got a job (Yeah the pay sucks but it's money) got bills, and some little debts but nothing to worry about. Been married 3 years, daughter is nearly 2. Life ain't that bad also I get to play on the PS3 almost everynight. While you don't have a wife (dunno about gf?) or kids my best advice is, if you can, save up whatever money you can. If I could go back and save I would do and wouldn't go out (at least not as much)pissing it up the walls or on a friends floor.

Eh. Being young and carefree was fun, but it also came with its share of shittiness.

To the bold, you're 20 ffs. To the job/school thing: Everyone who goes to university does that, stop complaining. And worrying about your loans - you are getting a degree in law, god dammit. You're a well off brat going to get a great job after school and you're complaining. I can't even get a loan for school because of my credit (it's not bad, I just don't have any at all). I'm 21.

For the 20 thing, quite a few people my age are now engaged.... i just feel a bit left behind seeing as I'm single. I phrashed the OP badly. In due time I will have to worry about a family. Better? So I'm a well off brat, am I? Working 16 hours a week in a freezer because I don't qualify for student allowance and I refuse to leech off my parents, whilst busting my arse off at Uni 9-5? Yeah, I'm such a brat... Last edited by MH400 : 11-28-2012 at 06:01 AM. |

sorry dude. but if it helps, when you warp you are disassembled molecularly and are reassembled on the other side. so technically you are dead and a new version of you is made. ![]()

The problem I am having atm is all of these second thoughts. My current study is not what I expected and I can't imagine myself (happily) doing this shit everyday till I'm 65 years old. My Dad says that's normal but I wan't to actually make something of this life you know?
Of course my real passion is music; writing it, playing it etc. But I just cannot seem to find a band to play with. Even if I could, I barely have any spare time on my hands. And I don't want to drop out like my brother did and be kind of a dissapointment to my family. The fact that I have no gf just makes shit even more depressing Things used to be alot simpler. Man I sound old |

What because he has gone to Uni? ![]() I'd say about 90% of my friends that went to Uni either; a) don't have a job and can't get one b) settle with a job that had feck all to do with with what they did at Uni
