Wiring help!!!
Hi i am just rewiring a bass, it is a Ptype bass, i am taking all of the pots out and replacing everything with just one kill switch/ on off switch, with the wiring that i have attached as a picture, everything works but i am getting alot of noise groundings gone wrong somewhere it seems, but i cant seem to find it, but i have also tried running the grounding not through the kill switch, but this keeps the switch from turning off - in both positions i am still getting output from the guitar. could someone have a look, and see if there is something im not doing right here?

You need to run the hot wire going to the jack the the right hand lug of the switch. Right now it's always going to the output no matter what.

TS- on top of what the above said it would almost appear the you have the signal wire going to ground on the jack. When you look at your jack it needs to be connected to the part of your jack that contacts the tip of your cable.

Cheers for the replies, i have changed the live from the jack to the other lug on the switch and am running the ground from the pickup straight to the ground on the jack but connecting them to the gound connecting to the bridge. But when the switch is off now i get alot of noise like buzzing i know its that the ground is off somewhere but i dunno where?!

Also its going to the right bit on the jack and the ground is on the right part of the jack, so im getting sound through, just when the switch is off im not getting silence im getting alot of buzz.

Post a pic of the internals, including a shot of the wiring at the jack.

I don't know shit about P-bass wiring, but should there be a ground to the bridge as well?

Hi sorry i cant get a picture of the internals, i have no camera! i think its just an on/on type switch, ground is no longer o nthe left hand lug of the switch, i have tried this but it made no differance to the buzz, the jack is wierd up correctly im sure of that, i think i can kind of make sense about the opening contact instead of grounding the signal wire, so does the ground need to be on the switch?

Its wired and it plays, just when the switch is off i get buzz from it, i can bear it but its just a bit annoying!
