Second explorer Prototype
I was so pleased with the way the last one came out, I decided to make another one.
Surprisingly there were'nt any problems or design flaws with it, which is unusual for a prototype. So i decided to go a little bit more fancy on this one. I finally got a chamfer bit. It looks SO much better with a thick bevel around it instead of a roundover. Ash, walnut and curly maple top: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The neck will be a 5 piece Mahogany, walnut and rosewood laminate. Its already glued up and done, just havnt had pics of it yet. |

So i had gotten some of the neck done a long while back. Got really burned out again because of another project i was working on, so this is at a stand still for a long time.

If Adrian Vandenberg played an Explorer, I'm certain this is what it would look like (in hot pink, of course.)

That's so sick dude. I'm actually working on an explorer myself and can totally appreciate the process. Shoot me a message when you get the final product, good luck!

I'm almost positive that I would overpay for just that body if it were for sale...
It's beautiful, the shape, wood grain, chamfer , everything on it.

This looks like the start of something beautiful.
I.....may need a minute to myself.

I enjoyed your last build a lot and this one is off to a great start. I'v thought about Explorers off and on in the past and always come up with reasons not to get one, but yours are all win.

So surprisingly, i had a little motivation to work on this today.
Only problem was, i only had a few minutes. I did get the headstock cap routed flush and beveled to match the body. It does look pretty cool. I will get a picture tomorrow. |
