Guitar for Metal,under 550 bucks.
So,I basically here are the details so you know my exact preferences and everything.
My current guitar - Ibanez GRGR121EX ,it is my first guitar. And I like it very much, but I want something new and better. It costs like 250 bucks. I play mostly,Metalcore, progressive, deathcore and all that kinda stuff. Bands - Periphery,Asking Alexandria,Of Mice and Men,Motionless in White,BMTH. Tunings - Drop C,Drop B,Drop A and other Open and # tunings. I like a heavy sound of course. Pickups - I dont know much about Pickups,so dont ask bout them. Im on a pretty tight budget - 500/550 bucks. Dont want any used guitars of course.I like all the shapes, except those X forms and stuff like that, dont want anything extreme.I like Ibanez,LTD,and Shecter. I hope that is enough information,i made this thread after reading /forum/showthread.php?t=1497696 Last edited by peripheryAA : 10-19-2012 at 10:40 AM. |

For that low tunings i would recommend a baritone scale guitar.
Check out the Ibanez RGD series. |

Trem? No trem?
And you don't need a baritone for lower tunings.

How many guitars do you already own? If you're planning on buying a whole bunch then I would encourage you to maybe spend a little more than 550 on one of them. In most cases you get what you pay for so if you want really good quality I'd suggest sacrificing 2 - 4 out of that 10 and get something really nice like an ESP standard series. It'll cost more obviously but it really is worth it, the quality of the ESP standard series is fantastic. You wouldn't regret it.

This is your best bet. The EC-1000 (used) is one of the best guitars for metal in your price range. The EC-401 isnt bad either, if you can get it for a good price. I would stay away from Ibanez at that price range, unless you want to upgrade the pickups down the road. I have an RG370 with EMG 81/60 and am pretty happy with it (although it doesnt even compare to my ESP Eclipse). |

Ibanez RG1570 Prestige http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ibanez-RGA-...=item3a7ae5e7e8 Ibanez RGA121 Prestige http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ibanez-Pres...=item3ccb3c4a7a Ibanez RG2620 Prestige ($600+ shipping, little out of your price range, but still a VERY good guitar) Also, open tunings =/= drop tunings, and # just means "sharp", which is a half step higher than the indicated note. So C# would be a half step higher than C.

Dude, used is the way to go. You get better guitars for cheap. You likely won't have a warranty, but so what?
But like I said, X Series Jacksons are all in the $550 range new...

Unless you are going used stay away from any sub $400 - $500 RG's with trems. ESP LTD and Jackson how ever do have solid trems on there cheaper guitars. My old LTD m100FM Floyd Rose Special was pretty stable and it never went out of tune on me.

Though I do suggest going used - you could get a used Ibanez Prestige for the same price.

I see you plan on using a lot of tunings, so definitely go for a fixed bridge.
