And yes; there is the possibility of life forming on these planets. Of course they aren't looking for intelligent life - but single cell organisms and such could definitely exist in such environments.

I just watched Neil Tyson talking about these things.

The five most prevalent chemicals in the universe are:

Hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, helium, and carbon

Given that H and O are the two most common, it's pretty safe to assume that water exists in a lot more places than people think.

And also given that humans are made primarily of H, O, and C, it's pretty safe to assume that life as we have become accustomed to also exists somewhere else in the universe.
