Ok, I know I have made numerous amp threads in the past couple months, but I finally got a used JSX at guitar center for about 450. This is the least I have found in my area, and they shipped it to my local store. I am so exited because I have been looking and saving up for this amps for months and it's my first tube amp. Anyway, now I need a cab for it.
~ 212 or 210 (could someone please explain the difference?) ~ 200-300 USD ~ Used or New ~ I don't really like craigslist, but I like shopping at Musicians Friend and GC Used ~ Anywhere from Country to metal, but mainly metal (technically hardcore/metalcore, Im not trying to play much death metal or classic metal here) so I guess the speakers need to be able to handle high gain. ~Right now, please just list specific brands or models, as I wont be able to afford a cab until probably after christmas. I might just get one in an after christmas sale Last edited by jbarnes.US : 12-03-2012 at 12:39 AM. |

Randall 4x12 Guitar Cab w/ Celestion G12T-75 for $250 new: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/ampl...rs?src=3WWRWXGP You can replace 2 with V30s and it'll be very nice for Metal, if you have the proper high gain amp.

4x12 is just too big for me right now, I need something smaller and more portable.

Is the space issue car related? Cause the only extra space a 4x12 takes up compared to a 2x12 is a little extra vertically. Not even 2x as tall.
But anyway, the usual suspects: Avatar, Mesa, Orange, Marshall 1936V. If you find a good deal they go for around $350.

I have no problem with the car (I have a truck) but I am worried about weight issues and just being to bulky to move my myself. Im not that big for 16, only 5'3" and I have to load it by myself so thats a problem. I've seen my friend's 412 and that thing is not getting carried around by me lol

I haven't heard this combination but I would think a JSX would sound awesome through a Marshall MF400 and they can be had for decent prices. JSX through K100's would have to be good. V30's are too toppy for a JSX imo.

Very few speakers that can handle 120 watts, so 112 would be difficult. I think the Eminence Man-o-war is rated at 150.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/G112STcp-E-...=item519e0fad0a Something like that could work. Might as well get an empty cab if you're gonna pick out a speaker yourself anyway. I really doubt you'll find a 112 with a speaker that can handle it stock.

Order a custom 2x12 from Avatar with the speakers of your choice.
WGS Retro 30's are similar to V30's, with more sparkle on the top end and less fizz. Deeper, tighter bottom end, and smoother midrange too. Great speaker. At 75w each, that will make a 2x12 150w and will pair nicely with your 120w head.

yep, sure. bear in mind, though, that the head probably won't sit on top of a 1x12 cab. plus (everything else being equal) 2x12s generally sound better than 1x12s. that's not to say a decent 1x12 with a good speaker will sound bad or anything, but yeah a 2x12 should sound "bigger". Of course, in a bedroom situation that might be the opposite of what you want ![]()
