He wants a guitar that can play. Considering most of your sound comes from your amp, if you want versatility, your amp should be able to handle it, THEN the pickup configuration. OT: the RG370DX is the more versatile guitar with the H/S/H pickups instead of just the H/H like the SAS.

Don't get the 370. Edge III trems are a no-no.

So far, better than the Edge III. Hasn't been around as long to really give it the test of time, but it seems to be better so far. Not as good as others, but not terrible.

Either of the ibanezes are decent, but the 370 will be more heavy metal oriented, while the sas32 will give a more warm tone. ive had both.

Yes but he is not asking about an amp he is asking about guitars and "rock and metal" is too vague, rock can be anything from avril to creed and metal can be anything from iron maiden to meshuggah. Personally i would say rg because i am presuming you meant heavy rock and heavy metal but imo it would be less versatile than the SA even with the HSH config.

i've played many rgs and personally versatility is one word i would never associate with them.
i used to own a SA, not that very particular model but another with the very same true duo-bucker system and its way more versatile than any rg that i've ever played.

Edge III is a great bridge if well set up (that's a big condition, cuz more than half people aren't able to set a floyd properly)
