Oh, btw, when someone says 'I'm Christian but I believe God is more like a divine happiness that an actual entity' you can break of the entire conversation there. They aren't Christian, in any sense - they're just talking metaphysical bollocks and labeling themselves with a 'respected' religion so that people don't laugh at them (though I contest that such a label shouldn't prevent such).

If you're going to say 'God is just human spirit' then you're just admitting that there's no reason to believe in a metaphysical God and you're just going to redefine it to mean what you like so you can still go to prayer meetings and feel warm and fuzzy.

It still doesn't really. If he created something, he's a seperate entity from it. Unless he's like a actor/writer. In which case he is present in the thing he created, but doesn't inhabit anything but his own character.

I believe in God. I'm Greek Orthodox, specifically. I believe God isn't "in" anyone. I've never heard anyone say that. I suppose, that because the Christian belief is that God is omnipresent, the dominating belief isn't that God is inside of you but that he's just watching you.

I'm pretty private about my religious beliefs and only chimed in because no one else was offering a christian point of view to Sam's question. There isn't any proof and hasn't ever been any proof. That's why it's referred to as "Faith."

That's simply a metaphor though, there's no metaphysical mumbo-jumbo going on. An author isn't literally alive through his/her work, it's simply that their ideas are preserved.

But there's an idea that when you create something, part of you goes into it. Not like literally. But so you write a novel. Your thoughts and feelings go into it. So your ideas are living in that book.

I don't know enough about Nietzsche to answer that.
