Hey everyone!
I need some help here. i've recently purchased a Behringer FCB1010 midi controller to use with my guitar rig 3. I've sold the rig kontrol 3 as it was faulty and i found that 2 expression pedals would be handy as i got it at a very decent price. I bought the pedal with the UNO chip installed and firmware upgrade installed as well. However I'm completely lost as to how to work this pedal with guitar rig 3. Here's a few things i've managed to do so far. 1) Connect my edirol ua-25 from it's midi in to the pedal's midi out 2) Use the expression pedals to control a pitch pedal/volume pedal and that's it! I can't do anything else. What i want to do is use the "stompbox" facility that the behringer is apparently capable of. So far the closest thing i've got to on GR3 is being able to TURN OFF stompboxes but can't turn them back on. Also the learn function on guitar rig 3 is getting fiddly as it detects it but doesn't correspond to what i allocated it to do. I end up going to preset 1 if i press pedal 1 or prset 13 if i press pedal 1 followed by 3. I'm a little frustrated because the bottom line is I want to basically replace the rig kontrol 3 with my behringer FCB1010 i.e turn on and off stompboxes whilst using the expression pedals for the wah/volume. also I only have 1 midi cable so when i tried using the pc editor thing i switched the cable to connect the midi out of the edirol ua-25 to the midi in of the fcb1010. would my whole problem be solved by simply buying another midi cable? any help? thanks, JK

don't worry everyone or if anybody actually read it I've just worked it all out. It's a little strange but I'm willing to explain to anybody else if they want to know.
I'm very likely to put it up on youtube.com JK

Right first of all the fcb1010 will need an UNO chip upgrade.
They can be found here: http://www.ossandust.be/ (Europe) http://mysite.verizon.net/resoamqr/...onics/id55.html (US) make sure you go for the UNO chip as the others aren't actually that useful if we're using guitar rig 3. Next you'll need to put the pedal into factory settings just to be sure: 1) Switch on the pedal whilst switches 1 & 6 are held down. 2) The pedal will do some fancy flashing, once that begins you release the switches. That's all i have time for at the moment but will provide you with more soon, i promise! JK

okay so far we've only just reset the whole pedal. At this point it may be a good idea to calibrate the expressions pedals if they haven't been done so already.
Keep footswitches 1 and 3 pressed while switching on the unit (It's not worth doing whilst standing up...have a seat). Release the switches when the display blanks. The LEDs on the footswitches, the ones on the display and each segment of the two numeric displays will turn on and off in sequence. Wait until all footswitch LEDs are on. Depress all footswitches one at a time, including UP and DOWN, until all LEDs are off. Wait until relay switch test is finished. (There will be a couple of mechanical clicks, and the display will end up reading "F1" (at least, it did on mine)). [Also, if you have connected a MIDI cable between the MIDI in and out, the display will show "A1" before this, meaning the midi ports work correctly.] Press DOWN once. Adjust the left expression pedal (A) to the lowest value (heel down). Once adjusted press UP. Adjust the left expression pedal (A) to the highest value (toe down). Once adjusted press UP. Adjust the right expression pedal (B) to the lowest value (heel down). Once adjusted press UP. Adjust the right expression pedal (B) to the highest value (toe down). Once adjusted press UP. Select a patch which has both pedals set to their full range, and check the expression pedals now send 0-127 (0x00-0x7F) This was taken from a Native instruments forum buried amongst other unrelated posts. The next step will be to actually program the pedal to send midi notes. JK

G'day,
Sorry to re-open an old thread but I too am having major headaches trying to use an FCB1010 with Guitar Rig (2). All I've done so far is acquired the gear. I have not made any progress at all in getting all the gear to talk to each other. What I have is: * Guitar Rig 2 software * 1/4" guitar to USB adaptor (to plug guitar into PC) * Midi to USB adaptor (to plug FCB1010 into PC) * FCB1010 with uNo chip * Midi cables to go from Midi In/Out on the FCB to Midi In/Out on the USB adaptor Does anyone have any really simple, no-brainer, step-by-step instructions that can help me out? Remember, I need this from scratch. I don't want to give up on this because the concept seems great, and I know people out there have had success. I just need to get started... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers -Adam |
