I need a new bass!!!

I have a P-bass, and I love it! But it's just missing something.
I want something with great tone, a longer neck, grainy sounds when I need it, Clear low end, and it has to be lightweight! I move around A LOT on stage!

Thanks!

^ I think he's meaning more frets. P bass only has 20 (though IMO 20 is enough).

Yes. I am 6'4, so most basses or guitars just feel small on me!

Well; your P-Bass has a 34" scale, so a longer scale is going to be only one inch longer, unless you go for an expensive custom instrument. Ibanez has a few 24-fret basses that you should be able to buy within your budget. Take a look at the Ibanez SR seies; particularly on the used market.

A different scale will play differently. The tension of the strings will be different. I think they only make up to 35" on basses unless you go custom. I also doubt you'll find a 35" scale bass for $300 that's decent, but I'll do a little research and see if I can come up with a suggestion.

I thought of the SRs. I believe there are Yamahas also in that price range that have 24 frets, but I may be wrong.
