Tokai Semi Hollow ! Need some help
Hey
http://cgi.ebay.com/Tokai-ES-335-Se...id=p3286.c0.m14 i couldnt find much stuff about this guitar ... it has the same looks of an epiphone dot studio .. Anyone know how this guitar is ? and in case i decide to buy it ..how much should i bid ? Thx

All i know, is Tokai make very nice high end guitars. Looks nice to me! Worth up to and over 1000.

depends on the model, to be honest. i'm not familiar with that one; first step would be to email them for the serial number and to see whether it's MIJ or not.

find out as much as you can, but if you aren't convinced, don't chance it. i always work on the basis of "better safe than sorry"...

It's the wrong way around!
Find out if it's Japanese. Looks like the Dot Studio, which isn't really a good guitar IMO

oh, i don't mean that. there's nothing "wrong" with the non-japanese tokais, they're legit ok. Just they aren't anywhere near as nice guitars- it's like the difference between gibson and epiphone, or fender and squier.

Old thread but and FYI from an actual Tokai owner
Owning tokai's both jap and chinese (or korea).. hard to tell.. There's not any real difference in either. (sound or finish). If your buying as a collectors piece to resell later.. then japanese.. but if your gonna play it or play it live (when bad things always happen) get the chinese version.. two identical tokai's will sound identical and play identical as long as they are properly set up.. fwiw I thought there was a pretty big difference. Now... I don't own any chinese tokais, but before you say that means my experience counts for less, there's a reason i don't own any chinese ones
