I'm having trouble remembering a rhythm pattern

In a song I find very difficult to play. Is this a sign of it beyond beyond my level right now? The song is Civil War by Guns & Roses.

Any advice in remembering this stuff?

Thanks.

Shallow and pedantic.

Put the guitar down and really listen to the song. You need to get it in to your ears and mind or memorizing it physically is going to be infinitely harder.

I can hum it and whistle it by heart. I've been listening to it since it first came out. I have the song notation and a metronome. I just can't remember it. Yet American Idiot I can almost play note for note. Just having a bit of difficulty with the solo.

Ok, then break it apart in to small sections and learn those; work on one at a time until you can you can play them pretty easily and put them together only when you're comfortable with the two sections you're trying to put together.

Taking a whole song or solo can be done but only if it's a simple song or if you've got a lot of experience with it. Being able to spot common patterns helps but if you're not very experienced they can be hard to see anyway. I would definitely say that breaking it apart in to much more manageable sections is the way to go.
