Hel me decide, Pit!

Title/keyboard fail. Anyway:

I'm tired of my back, neck, and posture problems caused by sitting incessantly at the computer. I've scaled back my time on the computer, but I figured, why not improve the time I DO spend at the computer. This leaves me with one grave decision:

Squat desk

OR

Stand-up desk

I understand that I will look absolutely ridiculous either way.

i don't think that squat desk will help and standing up for long periods of time would suck

get a laptop

The stand up desk at least seems logical and not like hippy bullshit.

Kensai uses a standing desk and we should all strive to be more like him.

Squat desk means you'll be sitting on the floor. Keep your current desk/chair but take regular breaks to get up and walk around for a bit.

I had a cubical job for fourty hours a week and what I do is lower my chair all the way and put the back as far back as it goes and sit low on the chair then lean back and strech my legs out so its like im laying down in the chair. Pretty much like if I was sitting in a reclining chair. Ive never felt any negative effects on my back or anything from it. Give that a try

Choose the stand up desk. I can't fathom how you'll manage a squat for long periods of time.

Squatting would probably be best. At least you can still sit on the floor if you get tired.

However, if it came down to it, for me, I'd probably just say screw it and buy a laptop to use while laying down on the bed. Or floor. Wherever.

i have a better idea. try thinking outside of the box. hang the computer from the ceiling, with the right harness it could work and you wouldn't have to sit or stand at all.

Or you could just sit up straight. I bet you can probably see the computer without having your face like 3 inches from the screen. And you don't need to be all hunched up on the keyboard either. Also, go to the gym. Squats and deadlifts as well as shoulder workouts have helped my back quite a bit.

If you have to go with either though, standing. You would still hunch at the squat one.
