I like a lot of pop music, including the likes of Nickleback, Coldplay and U2 that a lot of people are probably sick of while waiting for the latest hip hop song on the radio. I will listen to a lot of stuff. If I didn't like it at first, I have to listen to it a few more times then it's buried in my head and then I'm "ok with it". Currently addicted to K-Pop, not only for the music reasons.

One of the guys I used to hang out with listened to Dream theater and it was the vocals that annoyed me more than anything else. He played me some stuff from their side project (it's instrumental stuff, but I can't recall the name) and it wasn't bad.

True, unlike the majority of their fans I'm not a drooling ******, I know they're far from the best band in the world. I still feel ashamed about my join date. :P

Either way that's what encouraged me to buy my first guitar, since then I've started liking a lot more genres and being generally more open to new music. xD

You're all good, you made it obvious that you weren't a 'drooling ******'.

pro-tip: join date doesn't mean as much as you might think. I had a UG profile for well over a year before even looking at the forums

yeah the vocals are pretty shite too, weak and nasally. I think as individual musicians they are brilliant (minus labrie) but together not so much but I dunno alot of people seem to love them so it's down to personal preference I guess

I agree with this. Labrie has his moments of total greatness, but his voice can't pull off heavier music and he is often off-key live from the videos I've seen.

Midnight from Crimson Glory should be right up there with Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson, and Dio as one of the top metal vocalists

All extreme versions of metal are ridiculous and I can't take them seriously.

You deny it now but you will probably grow out of listening to that kind of music.

Steve vai is boring.

As are the Beatles.

Gangnam Style is the biggest pile of crap since Friday.

There is not a single RG out there that looks remotely attractive.

I still love Coheed & Cambria's first three albums, they were very important to me in high school. I've since distanced myself from the band though, primarily because a lot of their fans are totally bonkers. Everyone seems to either worship them or despise them, so being in the middle is tricky because of the stigma attached to them.

Not to mention that their last few albums have been varying degrees of bad. Or maybe I've just outgrown that style. Probably both.
