Because cynics see life in the light of 'shit until proven otherwise.'

With what goes on in my life, I'd kill myself with that mentality. I simply cannot afford to have that idea. I actually like it that way, it gives an the incentive to think positively.

In fact, for a a cynic, not being cynical would make for a shit life.

Generally happy, yeah.

I have a mediocre job, but the money is okay. Plus it's secure. I'm not worried about losing it. I still would like to find a better one soon though.

I'm still living at home, but I plan to move out sometime in the next 6 months. Hopefully once I can find a slightly better paying job.

I have some awesome friends that I know I can rely on.

My family is pretty cool.

There is a girl I've been talking to. Gone on a few dates. I'd say things are about 50/50 as far as it going to a relationship. Either way, it's something to work towards at least. Better than no prospects on the lady front.

I've lost about 40-50 pounds over the past year. Still working to lost about 10-15 more. Point being, I feel great.

So yeah, I can't really complain too much. A few things could be a bit better, but overall I'm content right now.

I never really let stuff get me down for too long.

I mean I haven't had many truly devastating things happen to me so far, luckily. Still, I tend to move past things pretty easily.

everyone has mistakes and f**kups, but theres a reason theyre in the past. some of them may be difficult to forget, and you may never forget them. life is a learning experience, and we probably only get one shot. thats how i look at it. maybe theres a reason youre still alive, you never know.

I'm on the content side of meh. Some fun times, but life is pretty dull at the moment. I'm getting happier as it gets closer to when I'll be moving out, haha.

It certainly did for me.

You just have to take my word for it, I don't understand it's appeal at all. And to be honest, i don't really care.

Wilde's personified definition of a cynic is pretty accurate to what a cynic is.

The 'appeal' is to find a philosophy that accurately describes the reasons for people's actions. People, at least reasonable people, don't pick and choose their truths based on whether they find them comforting, rather they aim to find a model that adequately explains reality.

There is nothing unreasonable about holding that view. Neither is it the view that life is 'shit until proven otherwise'.

Altruism can be explained in a cynical light in the context of enlightened self interest. (essentially selfish selflessness)

This whole week has generally been a low for me. I'm glad that I'm doing well in school and have friends to turn to, but some people/things in my life in the last month or so have been very draining on me.

I don't know if I'd say I'm happy right now. Maybe after finals week I'll be able to sort out some personal stuff and end up being happier.

Generally, not really. It's been shitty for the better part of this year. This past week has been pretty good though. Today has actually been pretty sweet, not to mention it'll only get better, as I have some good friends coming over later.

i've been a little happier today, considering how suicidal i've been the past week, luckily made it through. but from a general perspective, no, i'm not really happy.

No, I've been a bit depressed for a while now. Not extremely and it doesn't generally last all day or anything but I'm definitely not happy in general.

I am looking for a job, it's driving me quite mad. I would like a girlfriend, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen anytime soon.

Those things notwithstanding, i am fairly happy. I have good friends, a good family, i play in a band, and things could be a whole lot worse.

I dig where I'm at in life. I'm a pretty cynical person, luckily my best friends are the same way. We are observers, we like to rant about the socially ridiculous events that we happen to be around, it keeps things interesting and helps let out any frustration or anger. We sort of let all the negative out to keep the rest of our day positive.
