Practice makes perfect. Although I don't roll tobacco, rolling is fun.

Man, I was taught a little trick by a guy in a bar tonight.
You know those little tricks that when someone teacher them to you, you wonder how you never thought of it? Basically he wa getting the tobacco, and before putting it in the paper, he'd put it in between two hands, and roll his hands, rolling the tobacco into a cylinder before even putting it in the paper. Then you put the paper over it, and turn your hand upside down. After that, when you roll, you only have half the work to do before closing it.

Yeah, just lick your fingers a bit. I get that quite often.

Can't say i've ever heard of anyone doing that. Most people just get over the initial hurdle of rolling, and can just do it all the time. Also, if someone has a straight, why wouldn't they just smoke that instead?

OK, here's the secret to rolling ciggies.
It's helpfull to have a certain amount of moisture (but not too much) on your finger tips in order to successfully roll a cigarette, don't ask me why, it just works better that way, so just before you roll one, lick the ends of your finger tips then dry them with a cloth, (or just wipe them on your clothes like I do) which leaves the ideal amount of moisture still on your fingers for rolling cigarettes.

Hey everyone, sorry for bumping this thread, but I need some advice.
I've got the hang of it, except for the fact that for the most time, the paper tucked into the filet and along it is a bit bent more than folded, but that is not an issue. My problem is this: though I'm generally a Drum smoker, recently I've been trying more dry tobaccos.. And I've found that after a while, tobacco tends to dry up and break and become very powdery...and in that case it's impossible to roll. It all comes out on the end when rolling..it doesn't become compact enough to close, and once you've closed it, you tilt it upside down and it all comes out and stuff like that. Anyone with any experience have any tips as to what to do when tobacco becomes like that? Any rolling tips, closing tips etc?

I like how Slacker's knowledge about the topic at hand effectively killed this thread the first time.
