Wood for a superstrat?
I'm going to build my own custom Thrash superstrat (Design here) and I'm on a bit of a low budget as I'll be getting a Kahler trem for it. I'll need a fairly cheap body blank (Costing up to £50) and it won't matter tonally as it'll have an EMG 81.
Any suggestions?

For superstrats, either basswood or maple would be what most people go for.

Ah, thanks. Do you know any reliable websites that ship to the UK that would sell Basswood?

I'd go for Maple. Just personal preference. I have no idea where one would acquire it.

go to a local lumber store or a cabinet/furniture builder and see if they have anypieces they will sell you. Ebay is another good site.

Pretty good suggestions, thanks but unfortunately, these aren't really in my range (As I am in the UK)I will, however probably get something from eBay or http://www.tonetechluthiersupplies.co.uk/ Edit: Found something, emailed them about shipping. Also, had a better look but they have nothing I'm looking for.

I got some maple off http://www.cropp-timber.com/Max_Cro..._specialist.htm for my RRV build, it was fairly cheap.

Ah thanks, my only problem is I can't find anything cause I don't speak German and the Google Chrome translator's not great xD Edit: Found my way to the body blanks page but the dimensions don't look great ![]() Got another thing to ask: How hard are Kahler Tremolos to set up? I'm considering using one for this build but if they're hard to set up, I'll be debating between their Hardtail and the Schaller Hannes.

Nvm. What I found is in the US and the shipping costs more than the blank. Anyone got any other suggestions?

If i am going to best Superstrats I've ever owned, the combo of Basswood and Maple Top seems to be the best with tone, weight and look.
