Guitar Pro is buggered

Well it's not, not really. But for some reason it's just suddenly decided all notes should be forte.

When I open a tab from this website or any other, or I just open Guitar Pro and start putting in notes, it puts them all in forte. It's easy to change it but it's really annoying how that's suddenly become the default.

Does anybody know how I can change the default dynamic back to what it was (forte fortissimo)?

I'm using Guitar Pro 5 by the way, not 6.

This is why people should compose on an actual DAW (or anything besides Guitar Pro)...

I haven't encountered this problem nor any similar bugs, so I doubt that this is the reason people compose on a proper DAW.

I don't do a lot of composing to be honest. It's more the opening tabs from websites that's getting on my tits.

It makes all the notes in the tab look faded too so I just CTRL + A then click forte fortissimo and they're all back to normal, but then I lose any dynamic that was originally in the tab!

Oh, well...in that case, do what zgr suggested. TuxGuitar is free & reads all tab files.

Never happened to me and I use GP5 *very* often. Try reinstalling.

Whatever you do, don't use TuxGuitar—it's a piece of shit software that some people only recommend because they only need like 3 features out of tablature software.

my default is forte...do you mean that any existing dynamic changes to the tab are overwritten? because if mine is forte, everyone else's is probably forte, so you know...

Guitar pro is a better software for sure, but tuxguitar is a great alternative for reading tabs, I wouldnt call it shit at all, I have experience with both softwares and for reading tabs 2 advantages only i can think of that GP has over tuxguitar:
1) Much more realistic sounds because of the RSE
2) the loop function is way better with the abilty to choose the beginning and end on a specific note, unlike tuxguitar where you are limited to bars.

and the user interface on guitar pro is better, especially when you need to lower or raise the volume of specific tracks and so on.

But again Tuxguitar is a great free alternative and hopefully it will only get better along the way.

Yes they are overwritten, mine never used to be forte. For example, tabs I made before this happened have all their dynamics changed to forte if I open them now, as well as tabs I get from the internet. This happens to every note too, it's not like the dynamics are taken down a certain amount from whatever they were, they're just all changed to forte.

It's basically a much more stripped down, lightweight version of guitar pro, and it does a great job being that and nothing more. I don't see why people feel the need to compare it to more powerful paid software and trash it based on that.

Back when I used Linux, I used TuxGuitar after being used to GuitarPro. The playback didn't even match with the blue line that showed what note you were on. It was way too difficult to play along with. As soon as I was done with Linux, I obviously went back to GP. Good software that doesn't charge you by the month...like some other site's software that we won't mention.

Have you tried reinstalling it?

Comparing Tuxguitar to Guitar Pro is like comparing Audacity to Cubase.

Though it's also like how most of UG jacks off to Reaper because it's the cheapest and you really don't have to pirate it.

Well, this is a thread about Guitar Pro, and someone mentioned Tux, therefore I compared the two, and in comparison to GP5, Tux Guitar is shit.

Just tried reinstalling after hopelessly searching through all the options and breaking to play some Judas Priest \m/, and it's worked.

Thanks to everyone, I'll check out that Tux Guitar thing as well see what it's worth.
