Seems my pal has a DSL401 so I'm going round tomorrow to check it out.
I'm hoping for as nice a clean and a better gain. Thoughts?

I'm looking at this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....E:X:RTQ:GB:1123 and just want to confirm that it's the one you recommended and if there's anything that you're aware of that I should be aware of.

You don't like the DSL401C Tom?
I think the Rec is a bit much lol. Not aware of the Laney. I think the Marshall is what I'm looking for. Any thoughts on it Tom? ![]()

then buy that laney now.
its the Laney VH100 in combo form, rated at 50 watts. Its got amazing cleans, solid crunch and a slightly hairier jcm800 sound on the high gain side of things. Its a 2 channel amp with boostable gain on each channel and independent reverbs too, its a great sounding amp and that one is up for a steal. epic amp and shits all over the DSL for a lot less money/amp ratio. even with the drive to collect it. though you could probably get it shipped for not too much,

Better than the Super? Also, it looks pretty beat up. I'll keep my eye on it. If it goes for like £100 ill get it but it does seem a bit like it might need some work on it. I'm gonna read up on it. I don't drive. Motorbike ![]()

Motorbike? Oh sorry I didnt know you had a death wish
![]() Mine was beat up and it still sounded great, it wont go for less than 180 knowing how ebay works out its BIN prices. They are a lot of amp for not a lot of money, they arent VCs they are VHs when you do your research ![]() Either way, I promise you its a better Marshall than the DSL. Good luck

If you ever see a R6 with its pilot with a guitar on its back. That's me
I'll have to read up on it. Do you not rate the DSL?

no i dont
no good with any gain unless you blast the crap out of it, by which point its too loud to be practical and its not my kind of thing. i found the cleans to be bland and uninspiring too.

Okay. So I've sent the guy a message. I have a few questions that you might be able to answer too.
Take your time. I want to be able to play blues with some nice gain, think Hendrix, with great cleans and some guns type stuff. But the main stuff is the blues tone and the clean being as good as the Fender. As it should be an upgrade. That being said I can keep my super for that price. Yay. Anyway. How are the cleans? Is it easy to dial a bluesy Hendrix tone in? How about a Froosh tone? They both use Marshall I know. How does it compare to a Fender clean? Slash like tones. Achievable? Seems like these are hidden gems. Agree? Thanks. ![]()

Oh one more. I've read in every review that the stock speakers aren't all that. Any recommendations if I'm not impressed if I do get it?

That would be nice but unfortunately it's quite out of my price range.

Huzzah! I played my pals DSL401. It was cool. Not sure if the clean was better than the Fender. I think I'm a Fender cleans kinda guy. The gain was a lot nicer though. I'm taking a bit of a risk with this amp, if it's not what I want I'll whack it back on eBay or sell it to Tom and get the DSL. Crazy question: out of interest, is it possible to have 2 amps. Fender on clean, another on gain both connected to a pedal that lets you switch amps on the fly. So I could use the tone from 2 amps. You could also then use the pedals for the individual amps to switch channels for even more options... Does that exist in some way?

Ha if you don't like it shift it for 350 easily in the new year mate.
Of yeah. I will have it when my January loan comes in ![]() Congrats though, I reckon you will be very happy with it. Yes you can, ask I the WTLT and somebody should probably have some schematics you could use to build one.

Another idea is to make a head out of it and get a good Laney cab and ta daaa;
Awesomeness awaits.

Congrats
I'm looking forward to your NAD post! (that you're going to do, RIGHT....) There are plenty of opportunities with that amp. As for running two heads, of course you can. People do it all of the time. All you need is an AB/Y box. That'll give you the option to run one, the other, or both. You can have an amp for cleans and an amp for dirt. You can also run a stereo setup like this. For example, the Foo Fighters use AC30's for cleans and Dual Rectifiers for gain (most of the time). Then, the vocalist/lead guitarist of Sylosis uses an Orange Thunderverb 200 and Marshall JCM800 at the same time for rhythm tones and then a Plexi for his lead tones. There are endless possibilities. You can build your own AB/Y like Tom suggested, or buy one. Building one is definitely cheaper, although is more time consuming and requires a certain amount of electronics knowledge. The main thing to remember is that you can't use one mono cab for that. If you have a stereo cab then you can run one amp to each side, or you can run two cabs, or even one as a combo and one as a head/cab, or maybe both are combos. The main thing is, you can't send one speaker load to both heads simultaneously or switch between them for one load, as it'll blow your OT.
