Question boss ns2 problem- no noise reduction- help

got a used boss ns2
Check light seems on, levels are adjusted...signal sounds bypassed but there isnt any noise reduction performed nor the noise reduction light indicated the same....
Another strange thing is...when i put the level on my guitar of dist pedals to zero...the reduction light glows...and strats to dim and goes off again when i put any of those up again...

Ps. I i am using 8 pedals before it...good supply and cables...currently putting a sony mdr headphone at the output...

Any experianced word would be helpfull...thanks

First off. are you plugging into the right sockets. Input and output. Ignore the send and return for the moment.

2. What settings are you using? Try putting the threshold to max and the decay to min. Also is the switch set to reduction or mute?

3. You say you are plugging the output into headphones. Do you not have an amp?
