best les paul copies?

So I've been looking at getting a new guitar recently. I've had my eye on a lot of les paul style guitars, and I'm thinking about some possible trade up. The ESP EC's and the PRS Singlecuts have both caught my eye. Problem is, both are quite expensive. Is there anything similar under $500? I'm not willing to purchase an agile, because i won't be able to try it beforehand, so those are out of the question.

The only ones with "Les Paul" written on it are the Epiphones...

Look for a Tribute plus model ~600 USD
that includes Gibson pickups, good electronics and a hardcase

Maybe find an Agile that you can try, they are really worth a look. Mine was very good out of the box, other than needing new strings ASAP. The only thing I would change is the stubby horn.

Obviously I read his post, thats why I suggested finding an Agile to try, either used in a store or someone he knows. Perhaps if he tries one he might really like it and would not have given them consideration otherwise. In the Sub-$500 range Agile has some very nice offerings.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned the prs se line. They have a bunch of singlecuts that are 500 $ worth and they are great guitars. The singlecut and mark tremonti signature are worth considering.

I have not played a Tremonti version, but have player the regular SE Singlecut on several occasions. It is a very nice guitar. Right up against the $500 mark, but likely worth it.

My Epiphone LP is one of the best guitars I have ever played once set up properly. It's had no faults in the 7-8 years I have owned it and it is very solid.

I have also heard good things about the PRS SE line like Pierre-Claude said. Havent had the chance to try one myself. I hope to get the Tremonti SE at some point though.

Putting my 2 cents in and recommending Epiphone. I just picked up my 3rd Epiphone(2nd Epi LP), a Ltd Ed Standard Pearl & Ebony and I'm very happy.

Not always possible to try a guitar before you buy it if it's used. I'm willing to spend more money if i have that opportunity before buying it because the guitars i've bought in the past that were used were complete lemons.

If everyone bought used, the guitar manufacturers would go out of business and not release new designs and models. We would be stuck with the same guitars forever.

Your statement is ******ed.

As long as you think spending more money on the exact same product is a good decision, I'll be here to reap the benefits.

The guitars I want aren't always available used. Some are not cheaper used, like my Bill Nash for instance. Some of my guitars are custom builds. There are plenty of resons to buy new. To me a guitar is a very personal thing. Not every LP Std or Strat is going to play and sound exactly the same. If I find one that I really bond with and it is new, heck yeah I'm going to buy it. Like many I didn't get into guitar to save money.
