I am glad the only owner of my guitar has been me. I know all its fine details and yeah its a personal thing. I would be mortified if it got destroyed or stolen as until last year, it was my only guitar. It's like buying a new car. Some people like that 'new car smell'. Same thing goes for guitars imo.

Or not. While I'm certainly not against buying used, the blanket statement that it's better that way isn't true. Some people sell guitars because they get bored with them and there's nothing wrong with the guitar itself, some people sell guitars becuase they've somehow over-extended themselves and need the money ( a very poor position to be in) and some poeple sell guitars because there's something wrong with them and they usually don't disclose this.

Except for, you know... All of those intonation and tuning issues you've been talking about for the last 4 months or so in the CATPM thread. ![]() Also, I think its a bit different with cars. You lose much more money when you buy a new car compared to a guitar.

some gibson models are on sale right now for $599 new at sam ash. call a store near you if you can to see what they have in stock. (i don't think they can advertise that price on the web) they are blowing out the 2012 stock like mad.
PRS SE guitars are usually of good quality imo. |

Like I said, they can't advertise the prices on the web. You would have to call a store. But the worn cherry studios are $530. I just saw three hanging in the buffalo grove store. |

I've nothing against Epis - they're fine guitars , but IMHO I think you pay over the odds because of the Gibson association, and there are many guitars out there that are just as good but don't carry the price tag.
I'd look at the Vintage V100 range (Icon and Reissue), excellent guitars for the money, as good as or better than Epiphone, and at a much lower price. http://www.jhs.co.uk/vintageelectric.html |

wow! i have heard of gibsons are overprice for the name, now epiphones fetch more than they are worth for the connection with gibson??? ![]() if you are patient and look for gibsons the price will superise you. i traded MIM tele for a faded SG, i also paid $380 for a Gibson Gothic flying V, and i also got a 1/400 run SG white jazz for a hammer explorer shaped guitar (had $200 invested in it). you can find a gibson for $400-$500 if you look. worth saving up for over an epiphone due to the association you know epis are so unreasonable. if you don't want a epi and don't want a gibson, get a tokai or even edwards.

The new chinese Burny and Bacchus Universe guitars are getting pretty good reviews. The Universe even has a long tenon and a maple cap (flame veneered) if you're into that. Check out the Bacchus BLS-700 FM or the Burny RLG-55.

This plus if there is no used market, like in my area, the guitar I want may never become available. |
