What is Kontakt?
Okay I know this seems like a nooby question
But genuinely, what is Kontakt? Like, as far as I can make out it's a sample loader....if that makes sense As in you run samples through it....and off you go making drum tracks and such How do you go about getting a full version of it? As far as I can see they only have the demo on native instruments website.

It's just a sampler, yes. And unfortunately it's very expensive and the free version only supports paid libraries - which is a shame, since freeware like Big Mono is amazing.

That you have to pay for their sample libraries, I've never used Kontakt but I assume you can't use samples with different extensions with it (like samples you can find on the internet for free).

There are a lot of free libraries for kontakt, but there sounds usually aren't great. Session strings is a great add on for it really quality and the African instrument set is really cool.
Ive been told that the sampling algorithms are top notch and most the people i know whos opinion i trust rave about kontakt. I haven't had time to learn much about sampling as been Mega busy learning synthesizers but kontakt deserves a look see but unfortunately it is really expensive for all the add ons. Most software daws have a built in sampler that will basically do what this does for free. |
