I had "made out" with a girl before I ever asked any out, but the first time I officially "asked out" a girl I was 15. We "dated" for a few weeks but I was always way too shy to make a move. She dumped me after a few weeks.

i asked her out a couple weeks after finding out she liked me. before that we were talking quite a bit and then her friends teased her about it a little. so she backed off and ended up telling me no. unfortunately after that my depression really kicked in and i have involuntary thoughts about her on a daily basis (3 years now, lol). now i get to watch her flirt and try to date people in my friend circle. worst part is they all end up bailing out on her pretty quickly, despite my efforts trying to get one of them to date her because i want to see her happy. no matter how shitty it makes me feel.

I'd been prepping myself all morning to ask, and I asked her at break time if she wanted to go out. She walked off. At lunch time some other guy asked her out. She accepted. They broke up 2 weeks later. Then she rejected me again.

Asked her over IM. She said yes. Went to go hang out with her, and did nice things like holding the door open for her. She broke up with the next day.
Never doing that shit again.

She said yes just to be nice. I was so happy...and naive. I learned there's a difference between a girl saying yes, and a girl actually following through and going on a date with you. I got the "I'm busy but I'll let you know when I'm free" routine when I called her.

I was 16 at the time, and got rejected. It destroyed my (already low) confidence. Up until that point, i didn't have much interest in girls and didn't really see the point of relationships in general, and so it took me a while to build up my confidence in relationships again.
So yeah, it turned out bad, i like to think i have recovered from it now, and i don't think my dips in confidence are related to that anymore.
