He is right on getting what you want now. Next year you would be on the same quest.
Any of the Peaveys would be great though. Just test them first. They are a bit brighter and less gain than a 6505. Where do you live?

South bend, Indiana. the used market is absolute shit. so its basically blindly buying a xxx or ultra without ever trying it. also if i decided one fo the peaveys i could do a speaker and tube change no problem. if i go all in on a amp close to a grand. that might be a bit of problem. Another thing is im still a beginner/novice guitar player. i dont know if going all in like that is the right move at this point. its like i kinda feel like im not good enough to have something like that lol. like i dont deserve it or something. Also, Im not certain how much im gonna get. But i know at the very least it would be the xxx or 6505. which isnt too terrible im guessing. I'm just nervous. I have never bought anything this expensive in my entire life. at once lol. when we start talking about 1000.

I paid $2400 for my Mark V and I suck at guitar.
If you can afford to spend some money on yourself then you should. If you don't feel comfortable with 1K on an amp then get the XXX or 6505. If it were me I would go the 6505 route. Just my 2c. I have a 5150 currently as well and I love it. Edit- your CL sucks.

I am getting married this year so I might end up selling it to free up some money. Only if I can spend even more after the wedding. It's a great amp. My only regret is buying new as opposed to used. Going to take a hit on it for sure. ![]()

those Marks hold their value pretty well. You shouldn't do too bad.

I wish I wasnt such a lamb of god fanboy, then the mesa wouldnt even be in my thoughts haha. I saw some cool videos on youtube of people playing lamb of god on the 6505 and it sounded nice.

6505 can chug- something the mark cannot do. It's the one thing I hate about the mark. Everything is great. Just no chugga chugga like a 6505.
It's why I ended up getting a the Krankenstein. You feel the chugs in your stomach. Same thing with the 5150/6505. And just so you know- the mark V's gain setting on 10 is like the 6505s gain setting on 5. (Scale of 1-10)

I have a pod XT and love it. It's not as good as the real thing but I can at all night if I want.
I would love an HD model. For the price it's hard to find better.

Due to my work hours I play my pod more then all of my amp out together. Easy for recording as well.
Get the 112 and a bean version of the Pod HD. Problem solved.

Well this is off topic, but we're within a stone's throw from each other my man, amp prices aren't great up here but they aren't bad, not sure where you're finding these awful prices. Try the GC in Merrillville, they have pretty good prices.

Is this still going? I've never seen anybody be so indecisive about an amp purchase.
Pull you finger out and go buy something already. Go used so you can flip it if you decide it's not for you without losing a heap of money. But ffs, just buy something already.

I love how you bitch and moan like you live in Siberia, when you are only one to two hours from Chicago. There are plenty of shops there that carry good gear, plus I'm sure the used market is better there. |
