cool, so lets tally this up:

Things that restored my faith in humanity this year: 26
Things that removed all faith in humanity this year: 1,563,745,234 (estimated)

so that's a result of -1,563,745,208 faith points in humanity lost, which is actually up from last year!

I hate to be cynical, but it's kind of sad that we have to look for things that restore our faith in humanity when we're being reminded on a daily basis why humanity is shit.

I don't see much of a reason to not have faith in humanity.

Because good stories don't sell papers. "Local men help old lady with car troubles by pushing her car to mechanic" won't get anywhere as much attention, and therefore sales of papers, as "Local men beat and rob old lady with broken car" will. "Police officer stops car for child's dog" won't get any attention, but "Police run over family dog, drive off" will. Conflict sells, and it saturates media, but it's hardly all there is.

If you honestly can't find anything but depressing things about humanity in life, you're not looking.

The fact that those are what makes headlines is awful. Also I don't look for anything in particular about humanity, I just see the world and what's happening.

sure day to day this is true, and there are non-depressing things about humanity all over the place.

but big business and governments around the world are ****ing everything, EDIT: and like mentioned above, the fact that bad stories sell more than good ones says quite a bit in itself.

No, this is wrong. I'm sure it's a lot more balanced than you think, as people always make a bigger deal about poor qualities than good ones.

The media has to be cynical. People don't really care about the guy who gave his shoes to a homeless man in comparison to the radical Sunnis who bombard embassies unfortunately :\

MANKIND IS A PLAGUUEEE!
BREATHING HELL INTO EVERY CORNER OF THE ROTTING EARTH!

No, but seriously, the Olympics made me quite happy for some reason, and i hate sports usually. It seemed that the entire vibe of it was just really happy, maybe it was just because it was summer as well, but that was a pretty good thing this year.
