Guitar Solos that Mirror the Lyrics
Hey everyone,
My favorite guitar solos are ones that mirror the song's lyrics. The best example I can give is the first solo in "Spooky" by Atlanta Rhythm Section (SICK!!!). Anyways, I was wondering if you guys could name any you could think of. I'm open to anything. I really love "Supremacy" and "Madness" on the new Muse album. I'm sure there's a ton out there. Recommendations please!

Well...the opening song on my band's CD does that. The first half of the solo mimics the chorus. But you're probably looking for more popular examples. And I can think of none... :-/

That RATM song 'Whee-oo Whee-oo waka waka waka' has a guitar solo that follows the lyrics and song title fairly closely.

How can a guitar solo mirror lyrics?
Does it use some kind of hidden encoding system I'm not aware of? Or do you mean it mirrors vocal melodies? |

"Back Where I Belong" by Baroness on their Yellow album. Fantastic song on a fantastic record.

Off-Topic - I freakin love Muse's new album, I've listened to it like 6 times in the past week. Discovered them on SNL when they played Madness and the guitar solo was the hook.

How's the album? Is it worth getting? The first was good, the second was ok, and the third was terrible. I've only heard their surprise surprise single and it's got that first album's vibe. |

Lay Down by Priestess.
I guess it doesn't really count as a solo but the riff in Two Tickets to Paradise is basically the vocal melody.

Took a few listens to get used to (first few run-throughs I was like "meh" the whole time). But I think it was the third listen when it all hit me. It's definitely not as poppy/catchy as their first albums, but it's definitely a lot better IMO, but I think you do need to listen to the whole thing in a row to get the effect. The songs on their own aren't that great because of the whole un-poppier/catchier thing

It's shocking how many twats there are on this forum. But anyways, thanks to everyone who offered real recommendations. Another I found - Gunslinger by Avenged Sevenfold.

Solos that copy the melody of the lyrics as they're sung are utterly cringe-worthy.
