Taking a Cracked article seriously is like drawing on your beliefs about society from a comedy routine.

Wait a minute...

I had a friend who started reading Cracked regularly and became a pretentious asshole that used unecessarily long and fancy words to make himself seem smarter. I'm not saying Cracked was the only factor but yeah.

Truth but a lot of people don't get that. A lot of people actually end up in psychology courses because they like to help friends by giving them advice and such. To be fair there is counselling psychology but that's a relatively small area in a huge field and even then it's not really focused on advice giving.

Read that or any of his other articles about advice books and tell me again how bad he sucks. Best Cracked writer IMO.

LOL yea I read all of his rants against Godek. Pretty goddamn entertaining.

My favorite line:

That's what's funny. The article said they would do that too:

I loved the article, it made me realize that I'm that asshole writer who never actually writes anything (but with music) and that I need to just do that even if it's shit.

It's decent advice, although nothing out of the obvious. Also, it seems to repeat the same point 6 times. Having said that, I don't know many people of my age who really have their shit together. Maybe stating the obvious is the push that someone needs to get going.

I'll probably forget I ever read this article in a few days.

I'm watching the movie that the video from the article is from. Half an hour in, it's pretty damn good, and it really puts the idea behind the video into perspective, especially once you get to know all of the workers he's yelling at.

It does repeat the same point, but it does so in a way designed to get rid of excuses. Basically, the article was "6 Excuses You Need to Stop Making, If You Want to Get Your Shit Together".

From another Godek article:

Quote:
Outdoor Adventures #2
Play miniature golf... while dressed in your wedding gown and tuxedo!

"Godek re-used this tip four years later in his book Enchanted Evenings because it's the best thing he's ever thought of. Gregory J.P. Godek is the reason the terrorists hate our freedom. Mohammed Ahta was just some Lutheran named Mike Jenkins playing miniature golf before Godek and his wife showed up."

Before Seanbaby, I had never heard of Godek. But after, I just wish him nothing but AIDS.

If I believed half the bollocks in that article, I would probably kill myself. And I like to think I'm doing quite well with my life.

Meh. As soon as any article starts the whole "I know exactly how to get chicks and why other guys can't" spiel, I stop reading.

Napoleon Dynamite said, "Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills."
Replace "Girls" and "Boyfriends" with "Society" and "Individuals" respectively, and you basically have a summary of the article without the asshole tone.

Add in Batman Begins: "It's not who are underneath. It's what you do that defines you." Now you have the whole package.

But that isn't hard to say.

He could have literally said any dumb bullshit idea that popped in his head followed with that and they would still do that. It doesn't mean anything he said has merit.

Anticipating criticism does not make you above criticism. I happen to agree with his point but that doesn't make him any less of an asshole. He goes out of his way to really make you hate him, and then he shames you for it. Not exactly a good way to win over the audience.

It reminds me of the conspiracy theory people. Paint anyone who disagrees with you as part of the "problem", you are exactly all of the bad things I was just talking about if you disagree with me.

If you are going to take anything away from this article it is that Glengarry Glen Ross is a pretty good movie.
