Amp suggestions for indie-rock/punk?

So for Christmas I plan on upgrading from my current amp which is a Gibson GA-5T to something else. Its alright, but it lacks a bit. I can't really get the tone i want from it.
My budget is about $700, but I'm not too sure what to look for so I thought i'd ask you guys for some amp suggestions
Examples of tones that I'd like to get

tones like that are classic fender tones, you can find a '70's fender twin for around 700 or so, great amps

i second the fenders. old silverface amps can be had for around that on a good day, you could go for a hot rod and get a little cash back, then use the extra money to get a pedal to cover anything that has some gain to it

Go Silverface! You can get one within your budget, for sure, and they'll do that sound.

An Egnater Tweaker 40 would be cool. If you're so inclined a SF Fender or even Fender Hot Rod Deluxe with a couple pedals for the different distortion/overdrive tones would also be great. You could also try the old standby Vox AC15. The newer model has a top boost channel and a normal channel so you could plug into the normal for the more rounded tones and the TB channel for the brighter and grittier stuff (a Rat would do the harder punky stuff well).

i wouldnt hesitate to say my tweaker would be well suited. its made to be a jack off all trades. some think that trying to be good at everything makes you mediocre at everything. in terms of unlimited budget and top of the line amps.....yeah. probably right.

im very happy with my amp thought and am consistently sirprised with the good tones i get after i put new tubes in it.

i personally think for 600 you are hard pressed to find much better, or something more versatile.

...however, im also running it through my avatar cab with WGS speakers.....that is not included in the sticker price.
