That was quite some time ago and I usually see them in the $1100 - $1300 range as noted. The have seemed to have gone up in price a bit over the years. But yeah TS, Splawns are based on hot rodded marshalls (namely Plexis and JCM 800s) but with better cleans and better parts. They are made in North Carolina and come with the best customer service I am aware of in the amp business. Period.

Hey just a question,
So why is the Dual Rectifier not good for 80's thrash tones? i haven't tried one so i wanna know the reasons why some amps are better for certain music than others |

Well for the thrash tone you are talking about, you need something really aggressive in the midrange, more of a snarl if you will. Marshalls ( and their many clones ) are exactly this, a little unrefined sounding, but very pissed off and focused.
The dual Rec is more about sounding huge, which it does quite well. It it also aggressive, but more in a "wall of sound" way, not so much the "hammer to the face" that you like for thrash. Still a great amp, it just doesn't have an emphasis on the frequencies you need to play old thrash

The Captain has spoken thanks men i think i understand the "wall of sound/Hammer on the Face" example that pretty much clears my doubt |
