I don't see any problem with the guitar choice.
And using a pick is just a preference. If you don't need it, then don't use one. Who cares what the audience thinks about it, you need to be at your best and you need to be able to play in comfort. |

Now would a fender mustang be a good choice for the amp ? or is a head + cabinet better ?

Dude.
It really doesn't matter what you play or how you play it. Nobody cares, so just do whatever is going to make you play the best and sound the best.

If you play well, it won't matter.
And as for amps, you don't need a head + cab unless you're playing reasonable sized venues unmic'd. I've seen guys gig with a mustang, but they were mic'd up

Nobody cares if you have the most expensive guitar ever made or a guitar made out of scrap wood. Its all about the music. If you think it sounds cool then the audience is going to react.

Yes. For fu*ks sake. If you can play the thing the only people who are going to notice that its a "budget" guitar are other guitarists and wanabes. In fact, if I were playing in some 2-bit pub or bar I might well use my Yamaha rather than risk damage to my strat. Last edited by PSimonR : 12-26-2012 at 06:02 PM. |

Most of the audience doesn't even know what a Fender is.
