I'm looking forward to finally getting some guys together and jamming. One of my favorite bands ever is Children of Bodom, and the way he (Alexi) at least in the early days would do these crazy scale runs going into/out of riffs is just crazy. Of course, the same applies for Yngwie, who obviously influenced Alexi. I'm going to be the lead guitarist in a band soon, and I really want to see if I can mix in some wild fills as well. Would it just be to start a major/minor run on the final note of the riff, or what? Or start on a note in the scale of the riff?

As you guys can see, I ain't exactly a theory genius. That said, I hope someone can shed some light on the matter

1st video, Fsharp minor arpeggio, or scale. Take your pick, and shred it.

2nd video - Csharp minor scale. Shred it.

Get good and legato, picking and sweeping.

And your 3nps scale shapes.

Train your ear, and transcribe.

Yup. Use the shapes to train your ear on the sound of the scale in context (over harmony).
