Just do a bit of everything. Get your endurance and fitness up with things like running, cycling and swimming (try do at least 1 and a half hours a week). To counter all the muscle loss and to gain strength just do some simple sets maybe something along the lines of. Press-ups and bicep curls for your upper body. Leg raises and sit-ups for your abs. Squats and Rock climbers for your lower body. Planks and Dumbbell Squats for a bit of everything. Choose three exercises that work a different area and do them for 30 seconds each you can alternate the exercises for each set. 3 exercises = 1:30 mins. try do 3mins (2 sets) before you take a short rest. Get your heart racing and you'll be staying trimmed whilst building muscle. Do 6 sets (9mins) 3 times a week, do 2 sets before resting and go flat out start to finish. Example... Set 1. Press-ups - Sit-ups - Squats (30secs each) Set 2. Planks - Leg raises - Rock Climbers (30secs each) Now you've done 3 mins take a 30 second rest. Set 3. Bicep curls - Leg raises - Dumbbell Squats. Ect... |

I'll sign up! I've lost a bit of weight over the past two years but I'd like to tone up more and be able to run 5 miles with my dude if I want to. Also been climbing/bouldering so gaining muscle whilst keeping off the lbs is a main goal

I guess I'm in?
I didn't really get what the thread is totally about. I'm not doing the couch to 5k thing... but I totally need some motivation to go work out/run more often. So... hopefully you guys will help me out with that? Or is there another thread about that kind of stuff? My housemates are total meatheads... like, this is an actual picture of various places in my house: ![]() ![]() They work out 4-5 days of the week and are all about THOSE GAINS. They even got me to sign up for a gym membership at Golds, so I've been trying to go with them as much as possible. I'd be lying if I said it's easy to get up and go to the gym every weekday. I'd also be lying if I said the gym hasn't benefited me. About a month ago I successfully put up 185 (pounds) on the bench, which was a pretty big milestone for me. I mean, I'm not exactly skinny, but I wouldn't say I am fat, either. Ever since Christmas break, however, I have not made it back to the gym. I have my reasons, but when it comes down to it, it was just because I had a severe lack of inspiration. The only thing I ask of you guys is for a bit of inspiration and to not let this thread die halfway through the year. Edit: I'm not saying that I want to get buff or anything. I'd just like to be generally healthy, fit, and attractive.

Yeah. The 5K thing isn't necessary. Just about working out and getting in shape.

I'm in, cardio is my top priority so I'm definitely going to do the couch to 5k thing. I also want to start some strength training, maybe the hundred pushup thing or something like this since I have a dumbbell set lying around. Does the workout in this link look decent?

I'll join in... I want to lose 10kg over the next 2-3 months, and I know it's possible because I've done more before. So cardio, yes please.

Who knows, maybe I will even do the couch to 5k thing just for the heck of it. I ran cross country for a couple of years in high school so I know I can do it, but maybe this thing, like having a planned schedule, will actually get me going and make sure I at least do a bit of exercise every day.

I started something like this dead on two weeks ago. Lifting 3 times a week and completely changed my diet - high protein and fat - low carbs on non work out days and high protein and carbs with low fat on workout days. Dropped all sorts of sugar too. I've already managed to drop 15lb - feels great.

So I want to lose maybe 20-35 lbs. Is there anything I can do that will help me lose weight but not bulk up on a ton of muscle

I'll do it, but there's an annoying amount of snow and ice over here right now. I'll have to find a decent spot to run, otherwise I'll hit the Y.

Count me in
I'm pretty good at sticking to gym/run/dance schedules but I want to clean my diet up. I did keto for a month or two and it was fantastic in every way but I was forced to stop because of traveling and visiting relatives whose only goal in life is to feed me everything in their house. I plan to start keto again tomorrow and i won't rely on cheat days this time. Eating too much carby food makes me sick now :/ |

I've been working on getting a 6pack by March for spring break. Started a few months ago, so count me in I guess.

Yeah, I'm in. I'm going on a (clean) bulk until mid-March, then gonna go on an 8 week cut ready for my holiday and hopefully that'll coincide well with our next boxing competition.

I'm in, I did lose 9kgs the last year(18 pounds I guess?) But during the horrible fatty food-candy-beerfest of December I have gained weight and I'll probably die if I go out for a run or a swim, I don't even go outside most days. I'll start to hit the gym when school starts in a few days though, will try to report in here for my progress.
