I currently own a Fender Mustang III and fancy something a bit better. I have always wanted a Vox AC30, as a few of my favourite bands have used them, making the amp all the more appealing. I was wondering which model of the amp I'd be better off getting, should I go for the VR model, or cough up that extra bit of cash and get a C2? I would get a HW2X but that's a bit out of my price range unfortunately.

id go with the c2

i was looking at them myself but fell short with the cash.

so i ended up with a ac15c1.

i love the tones you can get with it

The VR isn't a real AC30. Don't get it. The C2 is better than the VR, but the C2X is where you can get the real traditional AC30 tone.

Or would I be better off getting a Fender amp of some sort? Perhaps the Blues Deluxe or Twin Reverb? I'm after something can produce a warm and jangly tone

If you want warm and jangly, definitely get the AC-30C2.

if i was gonna get an AC30 i'd try to go as old skool as possible. i've heard their modern speakers aren't bad, but i'd like the option with the celestion blues.

AC30C2x is the one id pick because of the alnico blues.

C2 without a doubt. The Valve Reactors are little more than nicer looking Valvetronix modelling amps. The C2 is an actual AC30.

Not even. The preamp is solid state. The power amp has a 12AX7 as a driver (more or less). Basically the 12AX7 is configured as a miniature power amp which then feeds a SS real power amp. The idea is to attempt to introduce artifacts produced by a tube amp which are then amplified further by transistors that actually drive the speaker.

Now, having owned/played pretty much all Vox amps, I'll say go for the C2.

I use to have a VR as my main gigging amp for a while and for what it is, it's not too shabby. Although the C2 is much, much better.

The cleans aren't as dull, the drive is more natural, takes pedals a lot better, tremolo is insane, the reverb sounds second to none (imo, better than a DR) and the overall tonal quality and harmonics feel and sound so much superior.

The C2 is my current gigging and practicing amp. The one con I have with the C2 is that it's insanely heavy - but hey, it's worth every backache. Oh.. and it's very loud, but it depends on your situation. In my suburban home I can play it fine without the neighbours complaining.

I actually love the C2 so much that I own TWO of them.

Even though the VR does a fairly good job of replicating the real thing, it just doesn't match the quality of it's tube brother.
