Not that i agree with spike lee in this particular situation, you can't really compare spike lee's films with django unchained and have them equal out. Most of Spike's movies about race relations are focused solely on social commentary and things happening currently (as of their release) while DJango is just an over the top spaghetti western style revenge fantasy type thing.

You know I was actually just thinking, would people be mad if this was about Jewish person who took revenge on the Nazi allied Germans that thew the word kike around a lot during WWII?

Well, I am white. So there's that.

When I saw Django, any use of the word ******, to me, just made the bad people seem worse. It was use in a demeaning fashion (as it would have been back then) and to me, helped make the story better.

I hate any racial slurs used simply to offend. I'm of Irish descent, and if someone calls me a Mick just to piss me off... It does. But I don't think that word was really used to push boundaries or offend. It showed exactly how those people viewed slaves. They didn't even see them as people. They were just ******s, and treated them like less than human. It created a deeper understanding of the depravity of those people and also helped make the story more realistic. If the point of the movie was to show how inferior black people were, I would be upset. But Tarantino showed how crappy the slave owners (and racist assholes) were.

As a 'liberal' I think nothing should be censored, and I hate the way things get sugar-coated because the director's neighbour's dog didn't like the colour of the words in the credits.
