Really simple recording device?

I am looking for a simple recording device. I want to link it with my guitar and record what I am playing, for example when I'm working on a song. It really should be a simple device, because a real recording will be done over another device. I have a Line 6 backtrack (won in, lol ) but it stops recording when you don't play. it also hasn't got the mic included.

Summarized I am looking for a simple tool that records better then a smartphone .

Requirements:
- Mic
- Simplicity is the key!!!
- Quite cheap.

If you have an Iphone, I reccommend the Blue Mikey.

Sounds great, evenly captures Instruments and Vocals while playing. Simple too, and they offer apps to edit the sound however.

I don't have an Iphone, I own a competitive phone . I also think it is too expensive for what I will use it for, still thanks for your response tho! I forgot about a simple tool as a voice recorder. Other suggestions are still welcome

^ If $80 is too much then yeah, pretty much that.

Depends on the quality you want.
You get what you pay for.

I used one of these in the 80's :

Sounded like shit but was good enough to record ideas.

Good Times. Used to use one like this about a year or two ago to record ideas.

My buddy runs a mic into a VCR... if you can find tapes they offer wicked sound quality. If you can find a VCR you're a hero!

I'd say just get a recording interface if you have a decent computer. REAPER is cheap and the free VSTs are awesome.

Can't you just plug a mic into the Backtrack. I'm pretty sure you can turn off the auto on/stop function and just record. Look at the manual for "forced play". It is a manual record without changing the capture setting.

You might find that you like the long life built in battery of the Backtrack after having AAAs run flat every hour on the others.

Well if $100 is too much, what exactly is your budget?
