I'm doing a report on stereotypes for my English class, and I decided to do stereotypes on heavy metal. We're supposed to write a report as well as do a survey. I've got the report down, but I just realized only one person has done my survey (I posted it on Facebook). I need at least 10 people to do the survey. It needs to be by people who don't listen to or dislike metal, because someone who actually likes it would be biased while filling out the survey, and I'd like to get an outsiders look on it, so to speak. If you could take a minute to fill it out, I'd greatly appreciate it .

You should really specify about what kind of vocals you're talking about on the 9th question. Not all of it is screaming and whatnot, as a lot of the 80s/90s metal vocals had more of an angry sound and less screaming if any.

Instead of asking for people to only click through and answer if they don't like metal, you should have included it as the opening question.

Why?

Because people that identify as metal fans are going to answer anyway, skewing your results.

I would say this isn't the greatest survey in the world. Some questions could have been better worded and thought out. I wouldn't give you a good grade if this was solely down to the survey.

Like it's been said, you should have had a question asking if people like metal AND not asked metal fans not to do it. They would have just said 'yes' to the first question and you could dismiss their results straight away and I doubt any of them would know they weren't needed.

Question 1 and 4 as well as 3 and 10 seem to be the same questions but reworded.


Also, I didn't do the survey as I am a huge metal fan. I'm not one of the douchebags looking to screw the results. I was just curious as to what the questions where.

Or alternatively, one could contrast the answers of metal fans with the types of question asked, to determine whether those questions relate to liking metal or not.

For example, the question "Is metal singing skillful?" (or something like it) may not be at all related to whether one likes metal.

Yeah, I could have done better. It's how my English teacher told us to do it, and she said mine was good, so it's not really a big deal.
