Obligatory UG Music Survey

Just curious to what UG listens to the most haha

I guess just pick what genre you listen to/ enjoy the most, care most familiar/ comfortable with, play/ write... Sorry if I'm giving you a bad case of cognitive dissonance, I'm only allowing one option :P

If you don't like me grouping together certain subgenres and the like, too bad, I'm ignorant and can only write ten poll options.

Shoulda made it a public poll so we can discriminate.

I had a bitch of a time choosing between metal and punk.

...but emo, indie and grunge have nothing to do with each other

in fact indie isn't even a genre, it's a classification that can encompass many genres...

hmmm....

no post-rock on the list (that's the cool genre these days)

you've lumped hardcore with screamo & "the other type of emo"

I truthfully cannot answer your poll

In a sense Alternative's definition is becoming really blurred. Now it's turning into an umbrella genre. Basically if it's not classic rock, metal, or punk, alternative gets slapped onto it.

Been listening to post-rock a lot for about a year, but I voted "Indie/ Emo/ Grunge/ Alternative." Seems like the closest thing on the list aside from "other."

Aside from that as the main thing I really like, I also like prog, shoegaze, metal, and I'm also getting into emo.

That's always been the case, alternative was never really a genre either.

Indie is pretty much the new alternative, in that it's what's slapped on anything that doesn't fit into classic rock, metal etc.

Also I voted singer/songwriter/folk because it's the least muddied up here.
