i don't think i'll use coil taps much. do you have a list of the replaced parts anywhere? did the original hardware come with it or no? i'm fine either way just curious. i know you sent the pups to cath.

Here's all of what I did to it:

Replaced tuners with chrome Grover locking
Replaced tailpiece with nickel GraphTech Resomax
Replaced bridge with nickel GraphTech Tune-O-Matic
Replaced pickups with WCR Darkbursts
Replaced pots with CTS 500kA, push-pull coil split on the volume knobs
Wiring is 50s style with .015uF Auricaps

And no, I forgot to throw it in the compartment. Though the stock tailpiece/studs are ruined. Kinda destroyed them when getting the studs out. I can send you all of the stock stuff if you want though. Have it in a baggie.

Yea, it's great. Oh, I also forgot to say that I replaced the nut with a teflon one from Graphtech. Don't remember if I ever finished filing it down on the sides, but if not, it's easy. Just take a pencil and mark where the edges are, then sand until the marks are gone.

Well, the Excelsior passes the loudness test. It clips my USB mic

Gonna try to find my early 70s Crybaby to dick around with. Maybe my FAB distortion too!

Be sure to take pictures when it arrives!

Never played one, but every time I read that somebody buys one, they're super happy with it so I bet Agiles are awesome.

I'm thinking about putting a Bigsby on my LP and have a few questions.

What kind of price on should I be looking at? (UK)

EBay - full of fakes or trustworthy?

Will it leave a mark on the finish and be very noticeable if I decide to take it off?

Is it easy to install and remove?

I have a Honeyburst, a gold or silver Bigsby?

1) Dunno, maybe ask Izzy since he just bought one.

2) Both. Good rule of thumb is that if the price is stupid low or stupid high, fake.

3) Yes, you need to drill for the mounting holes, and if you leave it on long enough, it will affect the fading pattern.

4) Yea, pretty easy if you've got some basic skills and a steady hand.

5) Nickel, but only if the rest of your hardware is nickel.

Nickel.

Gold hardware looks weird on honey guitars IMHO.

Are they taps or splits?

What's the neck carve like? 57?

The out of phase middle position on my LP sounds wicked jangly on the Excelsior.

Told you. I think it's like 7.5lbs with the Graphtech hardware. Best non Historic Custom I've ever played, which is why I had to snag it.

Yea, the Darkbursts are too low output for coil taps. I was gonna rewire it to series/parallel switching, but never got around to it. And yea, I really liked the Darkbursts at first, but after getting the Sheps loaded G0, they just sound really soft. No aggression in the high end/presence range and a bit too wooly in the low end. I liked them a lot for slide, but not much else.

That neck treatment turned out a lot better than I thought it would. If I had the patience to do it cleanly, I'd do the same treatment on all of my guitars. Finish is stupid thin too.

splits or tap? matt?

carve is a mmoltertx special modeled after the essence of a "Dec 1959" neck carve. almost a 60 but not quite.

i almost think my burny was wired like that.

7.5? it's light for a custom, which is awesome. and it plays great, a little fret buzz here or there but nothing obnoxious by any means.

i completely agree on your pick up review. they aren't bad, but they aren't what i'd go after. maybe they don't get along with the saddles? i have an old mj wound jb that i know i like in the bridge.

the neck feels great. i was going to go get it finished but i don't think i will. i plan on playing this thing and it feels awesome the way it is. so will not change that. nice carve job too, it's comfy, a '59/'60 tweener.

I had my Supreme all wired wacky when I sold it. It had a Suhr Doug Aldrich pickup in the bridge, a Dimarzio Air Norton in the neck and a blend pot that split the coils. I have no clue how he got that wired up
