Hello, I have a funk song that's in D minor. I have this intro that I can move anywhere on the neck and it is involves a Major 7 chord and just a minor triad a half step down from the 7.

So for instance A#M7 to Ab/B#m

Which spot should I put these chords in that will sound the best when I finish the intro and move back to D Minor?

Ab and B# are not the same note. I'm assuming you mean G# instead of B#?

Do you want us to just give you an answer or do you want us to give you the tools so that you can figure it out on your own and become a better musician?

You said the song is in D minor so I'm assuming you have a basic understanding of keys. However, since you have to ask this, I get the impression that you could stand to study functional harmony some more.

Honestly, there are a lot of different options for the idea you have. 12 to be exact. You are going to have to either learn some theory or just experiment. That's the best advice I can give you with the context you provided. I can't read your mind and I don't know what kind of sound you're going for.

If you are in D minor, the chord should be called BbMaj7. That's the VI chord of D minor. If you move a half step down, the another chord would be Am. That would be the v chord of D minor.

Or are you talking about half step down from the maj7 note of the BbMaj7 (Ab)? Why not just say a whole step down from the Bb?

Play what sounds the best to you. If you are talking about the VI-v thing, then jumping back to Dm chord will sound good. And actually if you are talking about the BbMaj7-Abm thing, the next chord could be Dm as well. But really, BbMaj7-Abm sounds really strange to my ears.
