Guitar, bass truss rods (not what you think)

I have noticed with my basses a tiny turn goes a long way, while on my guitars I find myself turning the truss rod more to achieve the same affect. I also noticed it took a little longer for the necks on my guitars to "settle" than it does on my basses. It seems, to me at least, that truss rods on basses are more sensitive to adjustment than those on guitars.
I started wondering if others here have felt the same way.

Does anyone else notice a difference between the two?
...Or am I just going loopy?

Everytime I adjust the truss rod on my guitar, I always tune it imediately after, and then let it sit for a day. The next day, I tune it again because it always goes out of tune a little when the neck settles into place. Then I check to see if the adjustment I made did the job. If it didn't, then repeat the process.

Not asking how to do it. Just an observation I've made setting both up.

I have not noticed this. Usually if the truss rod has tension, it only takes about a 1/4 turn either way to get it right.

I'm not good with guitar mantainence, in fact; I've never even taken off the truss rod cover on either my guitar or bass. My theory is that
a) The truss rod on a bass is thicker, so it's more sensitive.
b) It must have something to do with the neck on a bass being thicker and longer.
