Not really a metal guy - so grain of salt me captain!

Yep, that is what I know metal to be. I recon the synth is unusual for that genre?

The vocal stuff is off the hook, dude! I thought I was odd - but Sinbad, you are insane!

I thought the vocs drifted a little off at one point, and I am having a hard time understanding them. I would bring the vocs up in the mix and get a larger pair of underwear!

Not boring!!!!!

If you want to kick me in the balls for my half-assed review, my crap is here -

Keep swinging!

The mix needs a lot of work before it's worthy of an album cover like that. The guitars sound like they've only been tracked once, and not EQed (leading to a muddy, weak tone), there's no bass guitar at all (????), the synth has zero stereo depth, and even though the vocal performance is all right (sounds like you're putting plenty of emotion into it, too!), it's sorely lacking EQ and reverb. All in all, I hope this is just a demo. And this is more of a personal thing, but please don't advertise radio rock as "metal".

I do all the mixing and everything im just a college kid who likes to make his own music. As far as the album artwork goes i just wanted to give people something to look at. There is bass i guess i just have to turn it up. But i guess what I'm getting at is that this whole thing is a learning process for me still.

Well, now you have some suggestions to work with. This guy's videos might help too.

So are a lot of us No need to make excuses man, we all start somewhere.

First thing I would do is look at double tracking your guitars, that'd be the first thing.

THEN, look at this:

Then this:

Then this: (If you're using a real amp)

Or this (if you aren't)

Then this:

Then start looking at drum machine stuff with compression and EQ. There are tonnes of good tutorials on youtube, but this should get you started. If you wanna get super serious about metal recording. I'd recommend picking up "The Systematic Mixing Guide" an e-book that focuses on metal recording and mixing. The tutorials are above aren't perfect. Some of them focus on opinion and just copying settings, but it'll put you in the right direction till you're ready to start using your ears.
