Almost everything from Porcupine Tree is in Drop D. Colin Edwin has some killer riffs.

Pretty much every song Avenged Sevenfold is written in Drop D. Not too much of a fan of the band myself, all the songs are easy on bass. To my dismay, the bass player switched from his Stingray Musicman to an artist special run Schecter bass...way to downgrade.

People who posted Metallica songs: No, the songs are in D standard. They didn't play in drop D tuning, I'm not sure about the newer stuff but at least the 80s stuff wasn't in drop D. It was either in standard or D standard. (The heaviest songs were in D standard like "The Thing that Should not Be" and "Small Hours", "Crash Course in Brain Surgery" isn't really that heavy but it's in D standard. Other songs were in standard tuning.)

Everlong and Fat Bottom Girls are both in drop D on guitar, so I would assume they were both in drop D on the bass too.

But Crash... can be played in drop D, there's no reason to mess about detuning all the strings.

It can also be played in E standard with the same fingerings as D standard. The pitch will be different but it doesn't matter if you don't play with backing track. D standard is closer to E standard than drop D. The fingerings fit D standard tuning the best because that's what it was originally played in.
