Question Taekwondo vs Thai Boxing

THIS IS NOT A TROLL/FLAME THREAD

Hello Pit,

This weekend I agreed to hold a friendly match with a friend of mine. We've agreed to give each other a month of preparation time. We'll be fighting under Thai boxing rules.

So since I practice Taekwondo I'm making the assumption that I will have an advantage on the feet work/kicking. However I know that I'm in a disadvantage as far as punching and stance/defense go. Therefore I was thinking about staying at at a distance and wearing him down. So what's the best way to prepare for the fight and also what sort of kicks are allowed in Thai Boxing? Also any general tips and advice are welcome.

Additional info:
Me: length: 5'6 (1m71) weight: 150 lbs (68 kg)
Him: : 5' 41 (1m64) : 172 lbs ( 78 kg)

Further notes: I'm conditioned better and and his weight is all muscle. I'm 5th keup WTF Taekwondo and I've done competition. I have no experience with boxing gloves. If there are any questions I need to answer that may help just ask.

TL;DR how to prepare as TKD fighter for fight Thai boxing fighter.

PS: I'm thinking about filming if you want I'll upload it.

Im sorry but i personally believe any form of boxing will beat Taekwondo. No disrespect intended by that. If a boxer punches you, you will feel it.

Your best bet would be as soon as the match starts just scream at the top of your lungs and charge him and one hit ko him.

Find a boxing gym and rampage some training. Your greatest asset in a match is your guard and you need to get that down if you want to stand a chance, otherwise you're just inviting shots into your pretty little face all night.

Seriously man you're coming here for fight advice?

Anyway, expect your legs to hurt A LOT because if your friend is even a bit serious into Muay Thai his legs are going to destroy you when he kicks you. Anyway, I'll leave you a video to study.

That video might be able to help you so STUDY. And strengthen your shins by kicking banana trees or go to a gym to kick shit. Above all just study Muay Thai and what you can exploit with your style and technique.

Prepare to have your shins and the inside of your thighs battered. Also don't get into a clinch with him, he'll just knee you to death.

You'd be best off just skirting around and tiring him out. In close Muay Thai is crazy good.

I just really hope you know how to use your upper body and don't fight like this guy:

Also, how much experience do you have sparring against other styles?

I'm aware that I will be taking punches. And I've already taken peace with the fact that I'll probably lose my objective is just to finish my rounds. I do have a basic understanding of where/how to throw punches. Also I was thinking more in the direction of letting him charge and throwing a surprise backwards hook kick.

Next to none :/ I know I'll have to ditch the sideways stance in favour of a more frontal one and keep a good guard on my head. The thing is I can execute my kicks a lot faster from my sideway stance.

At the very least learn to throw a decent stiff jab and to keep your hands up as you do so. You can keep some distance that way if he tried to close and you're in too short a range to throw a kick.

Have any of you people giving advice ever been in a fight which didn't end with you losing your lunch money?

I honestly think you're going to lose. He has twenty pounds on you and your main method of attack involves standing on one leg.
