2 Guitars, 2 Grand
Hey guys,
I'm about to sell my (disappointing) Dean VMNT and looking to get 2 guitars. Basically one for the more clean type like fenders and stuff to cover all classic to rock stuff like Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, GNR, Van Halen... and the other to do all the Metallica, Megadeth, Randy Rhoads type music (basically trash). I want to get your opinion before I go out and buy another weak guitar that will end up disappointing me. Criteria's: Both MUST have a floyd rose, 24 frets but not a must, Also it must "look the part" - I don't want to go on stage with a black flying V playing RHCP or with a EVH Wolfgang playing Pantera. Forgot to mention - looking to not go over a thousand bucks for each Thanks for all the help, Cheers ![]() Last edited by GV8 : 01-12-2013 at 04:07 PM. |

Used PRS CE24 it does not have a FR, but they do have a great trem that stays in tune very well.
Used PRS torreo this has a FR and is a good budget PRS. (the US made CE blows it out of the water though. I play metal with a Tele sometimes, I could give a shit what people think of my guitars looks, its about how well I can make it sound.

You will pay more for Hammets name than just buying a ESP M-I/II I say if you look you can find a PRS CE24 on GC used section for ~$1000ish. These guitars are extremely versitile. It will do cleans, hard rock and metal no problem. ![]()

Meh, I had a CE22 and it was a cool guitar, but kind of underwhelming to others in that price range IMO.
Get a used USA Jackson Soloist. Can't go wrong with anything in that line really - The sound killer and once you play a compound radius board, you'll have a hard time believing you could play anything else ![]() Hell, with a budget of $2000 for two guitars, you could probably pick up a nice Jackson SL2H and then get a CE22 too if you still want a PRS ![]()

Pffft Jackson's aren't metal. They are just pretty Fenders.

I'd have to second this. Those Soloists are stellar guitars, really enjoyed playing them when I got a chance to. Very easy to play and sounded killer. Loads of different finishes you can get them in as well.

Second hand Suhr Standard/Modern. Will do both, and better to have 1 amazing guitar than 2 average ones. I had a Modern and it was great. Maybe a Tyler? Mine is the best guitar I've ever played, and it certainly looks the part. Can play anything on it. Gotoh trem, but you can abuse it and it still stays in tune.

I don't think I would suggest both of them having floyd roses, especially if these will be your only guitars. Judging just by the bands you listed they don't stick all stick to one specific tuning, but I guess if you can put up with all the shit you gotta do to change tuning on a floyd rose have at it.

You can honestly cover all of the ground you're looking at with an HSS Strat. The metal you listed is very far from sooperuberbrootzcore shit.
Look at a Fender HM Strat like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fender-HM-S...=item1c2f2301ee Not great condition, but you can keep an eye out. Alternatively at the top end of your budget there's the Jackson Adrian Smith which can do both as well. http://www.guitarcenter.com/Jackson...834-i2466609.gc

Go used. The japanese Charvels are no longer the plant closed that made them.
