Quieting Drums
I lead worship at my youth group, and one of the biggest problems we have been having with out sound is that we play in a gym, which means the acoustics are horrifying. Anyway, my brother plays drums (real drums, not an electronic kit) for our praise band and the biggest complaint we have been getting so far is that the drums are way too loud. We don't have a drum cage, and being only 16 I can't exactly afford one myself. Are there any ways we could quiet the drums without a drum cage? I guess I might be answering my own question if I say simply have my brother play quieter, but I would like to see if anyone here has some insight into this. Thanks!

Every good drummer can match their volume to what's appropriate for the situation. Every single one. |

Just tell him to play quietly, it's not that hard. Or just use brushes.
