Yeah evidently they are the original V30 design which has been changed by Celestion and only mesa gets the originals And they are cheaper so go figure ![]()

^ha ha..
ok gents. mic'd and listen to each clip over and over and over again.. i actually very much dig each speaker by themselves.. but when i hear them both they sound like ass... im assuming this is why the guy sold me the cab for so cheap in the first place. so now.. its just randomly pick a set of speakers and replace them.. or pick one or the other and go full loaded.. I will say I leaned towards the small block alot more than the texas heat. so Im "pretty" sure thats the one ill be keeping edit: whats a good reccomendation to pair up with my small blocks Last edited by Bladed-Vaults : 01-20-2013 at 08:48 PM. |

Small Blocks rock. Don't you dare get rid of those.
Edit - I see. Not sure what to pair with outside of more Small Blocks ![]() Have looked up some of these suggestions on the Splawn forum? There is a lot of talk there. I would go high wattage personally with good low end ![]()

yeah that can easily happen. just because you like two speakers alone doesn't mean you'll like them paired. if you like the small blocks (they're splawn's greenback-style speakers, right?) i'm guessing two large blocks (they're splawn's g12h30s, right?) would pair well. That's based on celestions, though, i haven't tried the splawn-branded speakers (which are made by eminence, i think).

well. I was thinking full loaded small blocks..
but at this point what would be wrong with going two V30s in place of the TH's? I always the loved the sound of orange cabs for ruthless metal. How would v30s the style orange uses go with the smalls blocks? good mix? yay nay? |

Personally, I hate V30s mixed with Greenback speakers.
Just a lot of fizz and graininess. V30s really only go good with K-100s or T-75s, IMO. I'd probably try Splawn's Big Blocks, Creambacks or Scumbacks. |

oh yeah all small blocks would work too
i prefer a greenback/g12h30 mix over either speaker alone (but that's with celestions or taydens, as i said, i haven't tried splawn speakers) ^ agreed, greenbacks and v30s only really work in very specific circumstances, if you ask me. v30 and g12h30 can work well (though it really cuts down on the v30's power handling so it only really makes sense in a 4x12, unless you're using a 50 watt-or-less head), as can the v30 and classic lead.
