Yeah, I read all of the posts. And exactly zero of them complained about anything that should be complained about? Taking advantage of fans? Yeah, that still never happened. 10$ for a download? Sounds pretty normal to me. 25$ for an exclusive/special edition of an album? Sounds pretty normal to me. The vinyl was what, 45$ Still sounds normal to me. And the opportunity to have a band hang out with you at your house and even make you food, or let you play on their album, overpriced or not, is pretty generous in my opinion. And frankly those options are only so steep because if they were reasonably priced they would have to do it for hundreds of people. Unless you say they are taking advantage of fans because they asked for so much money, in which case I will point out again, the amount of money they asked for has zero effect on the amount of money they will get, and it's nobody's business how much they are going to spend making the album, and promoting, and making videos, and touring, and creating new merch, and whatever else they are using this money for. Frankly, I don't give a shit if they turn 80% of the money into their personal salaries as long as everybody gets what they paid for because it's their money.

question. after they get this money from there fans, are they going to pay them back?

i'm assuming since it's kickstarter that the answer is no. in that case, it's super manipulative

edit: wrote there instead of their. preserving so everyone can laugh at my mistake

No. Fans are paying for the album upfront.

1. PTH is already super established, so they can swing this pretty easily
2. All they've really changed is who they're whoring themselves out to. It was their label, and now it's their fans.

This money isn't donated. The fans are buying merchandise. Why would they pay that back?

Also, this isn't Kickstarter, but I would think since you're familiar with it that you would be aware of the perk system.

The only downside for fans is that the album might turn out to be shit - a highly unlikely event.

Scurrilous was a huge step down from the first 2.

That said, the band received $200k. Once the fans donated, the band can do whatever they want with that money. Besides, it's not like they're just buying a yacht or something. They're using the money to promote their music (which is what touring is really, a form of music promotion), which is beneficial to their fans in this case.

their fanbase is mostly neckbeards though. obviously 'taste is subjective' so i don't need to argue about why they suck, but like their core fanbase are neckbeards is simply an objective truth--neckbeards who think what pth is doing is somehow forward thinking and not just being parasites exploiting the only people unfortunate enough to call themselves "fans" of the band.

idgaf if you mock fans of lo-fi hipster music and say that the music sucks bee tee dubs. :-)

Every time you post on this site, I want to reply to it and tear you apart, but I just can't because you almost never put across any sort of coherent thought at all. You seriously came into a PTH thread with nothing to say except "PTH fans are neck beards, look at me, my taste in music is so awesome"? How the **** am I even supposed to respond to that with anything other than an equally shitty level of trolling?

EDIT: At least if you are going to make the argument that fans of a band are some derogatory term, at least pick a term that actually means something. Neckbeard? I've yet to see two or three people actually agree on what that means (outside of the literal interpretation). At least call them fags or ******s or something so that it can be argued, Jesus.

Scurrilous was great. It was no Kezia or Fortress and the production sucks, but it was still great. Haters gonna hate.

There are maybe 3 good songs on it. The rest are just poorly thought out tap-fests. I'll take Bone Marrow over Dunsel any day of the week.
