I think I'm getting alzheimers

I felt so dumb this morning.

I went into our kinda office, kinda recording area, kinda music area, kinda man-cave room to grab my Edwinson to change the strings. I've barely been playing guitar lately. I go and grab a guitar case, open it up, and take her out.

First thing I do is strum a few chords and fiddle around a bit for a few seconds and think to myself "Dang, this doesn't really sound as nice as I remember it. Hm maybe it's just because I have some music [Dustin Kensrue] playing."

I start loosening the low E in order to switch it. Once I do that, I notice that the bridge pin is exceptionally hard to get out, and I notice scratch marks on it from pliers. I think to myself "Damn, I don't remember doing that and really ruining the way these nice ass custom pins look."

Then I look at the pins and think "Hmm, nevermind I guess they aren't as nice as I remember. They're just regular pins and easy to replace." So I continue trying to pull it out, to no avail. I'm about to put the guitar down to go get some pliers, and then I look at the wood of the top. I notice some green/blue stains on the wood, which I can't rub out, and then some cracks and dents that I don't remember.

I think "Holy crap, I CAN'T BELIEVE my nice Edwinson has this much damage on it already. What the hell."

Then over the course of about 10-15 seconds, I stare at the guitar. I look at the body, up and down the neck/fretboard, and onto the headstock. Only then do I realize that this is in fact my years old Washburn F52SWCE. At this point I feel dumb as hell, so I put it back in its case, which looks nothing like the custom Edwinson case by the way, and then pick up the other case. I put it down, open it, and I'm staring at my Alvarez MC-90 classical guitar. Again, I look at the case, which also looks nothing like the (entirely different colored) Edwinson case.

Bewildered and stupid, I finally open the right case, look at my Edwinson, and my eyes are bathed in the holy light again.

End result, I picked it up, played it and realized how nice it sounds again, put it back in because I didn't feel like my brain could handle changing the strings, and went to work out.

So yeah, there's my adventure with discovering how dumb I could feel.

Look on the bright side...it might not be Alzheimer's. It might just be a brain tumor.

At least they can remove those.

On the Who's album, "Live at Leeds", Peter Townshend cautions the audience to, "put that cigarette out". Sound advice, dude!

Or maybe, "one pill makes you larger, and one pill makes your short term memory small".

i'm worried about you dread. spending a little too much time at the b(r)each are we? with or without the R it could be serious. without it, it's overexposure to the sun. the only safe remedy is to send me that wonderful edwinson. with the R in it, i'm afraid it's probably a fatal social disease...again it might not be to late to ship that beautiful baby to me before its too late !!!!
if worse comes to worst, you won't remember that i now possess it. if your lucky you wont even remember that you owned it once and shipped it to a complete stranger.

Oh man, you have NO idea how big the relief was! haha. It was such a nice revelation.

But you're right though, I've had three nights this week where I've woken up at 7 AM and got home from work at the same time...

BTW, I had never heard of that brand, so I looked 'em up.

DAMN! Those are beautiful.

How much did your piece of steel-stringed nirvana set you back?

Did you already do a NGD thread on this guitar and this is to refresh our memories? Or don't you have pictures and this is, (to paraphrase William Shakespeare), "a ruse is a ruse, is a ruse. That which presents itself to us as a ruse, is by any other name a ruse".......
