Am I the only one that gets pissed off
when people say and write "my heart gos out to..." or "my thoughts and prayers go out to..." ? It's the most pathetic attempt at looking compassionate I've ever seen and these people usually don't actually care very much. They go about their usual buisness and forget what the latest thing to pretend to care about was.
Edit. The thing is, noone ****ing cares. Their prayers and thoughts are useless. It's merely an attempt to make themselves feel better about themselves and look better in the eyes of other people. Last edited by PoisonousNipple : 01-18-2013 at 01:00 AM. |

My condolences, it must be difficult to see such acts of sympathy.

It's a pretty cheap thrill that people like to get
Like pages on facebook and emailing eachother to pray for people... but atleast they're thinking about it ![]() besides, No point in getting pissed off about something that's not going to change...

I mean, some people believe that prayer really does matter, and in many cases the people who say this aren't under any direct obligation to help the person they are talking about. We can all agree that prayer can't cause harm at least, right. I understand being mad because people are fake, but not everyone who says they will pray for someone is faking. I agree about the whole "making themselves feel better about themselves thing" tho. Insincere people are annoying.

Condolences shouldn't be thrown around as such, but they're never meant to bring any harm to anyone. But yes, it pisses me off when I see someone cuss out someone in a tweet then tweet a bible verse or say they're praying for something. Its just called hypocrisy.

maybe it has something to do with feeling the pressure to say something when you're famous. you know some people are gonna tear the president apart if he doesn't say stuff like that for a tragedy like the recent elementary school shooting, for example. and on internet social media, everyone is famous.

If you're really that pissed off about people offering condolences, even if they're only offering them to feel better about themselves, you have bigger issues than people giving condolences.

Yeah, when people attempt to seem nice and comfort someone, regardless of sincerity, is a terrible, terrible thing. It pisses me off so much that someone would do that.

Depends on the situation. If someone is praying instead of taking action it could be harmful. |

Anyone that seriously thinks that prayer replaces action is stupid enough to be stupid in other ways anyway. |

If, to quote you, these people don't care very much, why would they take action?

You're a really bad TS, TS. Mostly because you have the stupidest opinions like this. Like, this sounds like something a 14 year old emo says when they want more attention. It's okay if you need attention, TS... I'm here for you. My thoughts go out to you for not getting enough attention, and you have my prayers to help you find that attention. ![]() Edit: Look, if your dog were to die, I'd tell you I'm sorry you have to deal with it, because I would be. But I'm not gonna bury him for you or try to bring him back to life because you're not a baby. You're a grown man, I assume. Whether or not you appreciate the thought is up to you, but you don't need someone holding your hand every time you get a boo-boo.
